Letting Go

School bag in hand
She leaves home in the early morning
Waving Goodbye
With an absent-minded smile
I watch her go
With a surge of that well-known sadness
And I have to sit down for awhile
The feeling that I'm losing her forever
And without really entering her world
I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter
That funny little girl.
(Slipping Through my Fingers)

Yesterday Madison went to Kindergarten, the very first day! Where have the last five years gone? We are happy to let her go and explore the world, although scary she needs to have the life lessons and experience that we all need growing up, the experiences that define who we will become in life.
She was so excited! Dave took the day off work to be able to go and take her to kindergarten and pick her up. We got up and got ready and we took her to breakfast, a special day just for her. She goes to school from 12:30 til 3:05 everyday. Madison has her own locker in the classroom, a photo id card, and a chair to call her own. The first day was a day of mixed emotions she really didn't get very comfortable with the class, and said she didn't meet any new friends...but I think getting the new kids accustomed to school took the whole time. She can't wait to go today, she said she likes her teacher and it was fun, although she did say, all I did was color.=) Here is to many more successful days in school.
Garrett on a side note was sad the whole time, he couldn't wait for Madison to come home and kept asking when can we pick her up?

Sad

So sad to find out that Women's Fast Pitch Softball has been dropped from the 2012 Olympics in London. Still on for 2016, but 8 years from now come on! They say the competition isn't there but this year they only won Silver, I think the competition is catching up and that Softball should be reinserted in London in 2012, but that is my opinion. I love to watch the team play. I miss High School and playing softball so I live through the Olympics and watching them play. I guess if they can prove the competition is there, there is a chance...I hope for that chance, Madison and I loved watching Softball together I even think maybe I am converting her to sports. She liked Volleyball too =)

Didn't really get it.

I attempted to take some pics of the kids, Garrett 2 year pics and Madison 5 year pics. But I wasn't really happy with them, for one the day was beautiful I started taking all the cousin pictures and well the clouds rolled in and it got dark real quick. So I will try again another day. But at any rate a few to share.....

Our little Garrett, so beat up (You can really see it if you click on the picture) we have decided we will probably never have a picture where you are not injured or bruised in some way, and yet so happy with life and the cheesiest grin I have ever seen him give for a picture. Not real sure what that is all about. But in fact it tells exactly who he is!

Sweet Madison, You drive us crazy but steal our hearts too. You are growing up and many days I wonder if you are 5 or 15. Couldn't get by the little smirk on her face in this picture, to smart for her own good, some of the things she comes up with are amazing.
We sure love them both and can't imagine not having them around to make our days fun, challenging and yet completely exhausting.

Quick Trip

This last weekend we took a trip to Wisconsin for the baptism of my niece Caitlyn. It was beautiful and she was so excited and happy to finally be baptized. We hung out with my parents and the kids had a blast, my dad got in on the action and got on Madison's scooter, all I could think was great, when he was a missionary he broke his ankle skateboarding. Grandpa played a
little basketball with the kids, throwing the kids in the air and a favorite of the kids being lifted up to just touch the basketball net.

Hanging out and partying with the cousins. Tons of food to eat, and even some cake!

And just having a great time together, thanks Grandpa and Grandma for letting us invade your house for the weekend.

Finally

I finally finished the book! I know it took forever not like me at all, but I am finally done. I really liked the book but there were a few parts where I thought....what? The climax scene seemed to go on forever.....I started skipping sentences. But I really did enjoy the book.

It won't be the last!

It finally happened in our house. The first trip to the emergency room that involved blood and ultimately stitches. The coffee table won, Garrett tried to compete, but it just prevailed! The moment he started crying something was really wrong, walk around the cover to find a blood smeared forehead. After a little debate, Dave didn't think it needed stitches, I won out and we were off to the emergency room, 8 stitches and two hours later we were on our way home. He did great. They gave him some numbing gel to numb the area for about 20 minutes and during this time he tried to escape in the hallway, climb the bed and push every button in the room. The poor nurses tried a coloring book, no use the boy would not sit still. Finally the Dr came in and laid him down cleaned it out, gave him a shot to numb the wound and draped his face......AND HE FELL ASLEEP! No fighting, no screaming just sleeping, he slept the whole time, they cleaned him up, he slept, they got the discharge papers, he slept and I carried him out sleeping until I got to the car then he woke up and said......ALL Done!
Today no complaints for this little guy, he is jumping and laughing and carrying on, like always! You ask him if it hurts and he just says, no hurt and continues on his way.
And no he is not glaring at me, his eye is really that swollen!
As for the title, I am pretty sure this will not be the only time we visit the emergency room for Garrett, he is fearless!

Half Way through

I am halfway through the new book, life has happened around here. I hope to finish this weekend on our drive to Wisconsin.

Don't Disturb

I am putting my sign up....DO NOT DISTURB! I need this moment and I don't need to know the ending. And I love my friend Missy who dropped my book off this morning. Talk about curb side service! I am so excited!
