A night out!

Dave and I went out for our anniversary this weekend a few days early. It was wonderful to actually be able to go out without the kids (love them but they tend to make dinner a little more stressful). We went to the Cheesecake Factory, had never been and loved it it was really hard to choose something for dinner and than agree on a slice of cheesecake for dessert to share!
We than walked around the big outdoor mall that was there in Columbus again being glad we didn't have to push a stroller and navigate the sidewalks the way others were. We went to The Container Store....have looked at things online but never been to one there is something there to organize every part of your life.....I love it! We visted numerous over stores that in Idaho you would just have to be content to order online!
All in and all it was just so nice to be able to spend time with Dave alone. This year marks 5 years and they are 5 years well spent and many more years to look forward too. A lot has happened and changed in our lives over the last five years and over dinner we talked about all these things, two kids, both of us graduating from college, and not to mention moving half a dozen times. We have had a very blessed marriage and we look forward to what the future might bring us.

First Watermelon!

Garrett had his first taste of watermelon on Sunday! I believe it is safe to assume he loved it! He probably would have continued to eat the whole bowl but we had to intervene.

The pictures don't do it justice. He would shove the whole piece in his mouth and hold it in with one hand and the juice would run down his chin and his arm and would drip off his elbow! He would eat a piece and than reach for the bowl for more....he also took a real liking to potato salad. I must say it is nice to actually have a child that will eat something!

A little bit of information
National Watermelon Day is August 3

HELP! HELP!

Okay so we going to paint the dining room in the house that we are living in(Dave's moms old house) . The chair rail is staying and so we are in need of two colors and a trim color.......we want to stay neutral but we what something that looks really good, this is the room you see when you walk in through the front door. There is only one window but it lets in a lot of light.......I want to feel peaceful and tranquil when i go in there, but also make a statement. You can scroll through paint colors at Lowe's or home depot online and just email or leave a comment with the name of the color. We have went on for about 2 weeks now looking through colors and never really deciding! HELP!!!!!!!

1st Haircut!

So Garrett got his first haircut by his dad this morning. Okay so i was not happy about the first cut way shorter than I wanted it too be...... I wanted him to have that little cute boy cut, not the I look like I'm going into the military at age 1! But I guess free is free. Next time I think I will be in charge of the clippers.....the poor boy just needed a little trim! But we did find a good place to keep him still...a towel in the bathroom sink and let the water run he loved it and did really well. It is a good thing little boys hair grows pretty quickly!

Littlest Daredevil

Yesterday we were all playing and Garrett got 2 ride on toys for his birthday well I looked over and he was standing on one of them and kept putting his hands in the air looking like her was saying, "I did it!" His climbing doesn't stop there he has mastered our coffee table without needing anything as a step and can frequently be found on top of the table! I know that i can't leave him for more than a minute in a room sometimes I feel like I need a leash to take him everywhere with me.

Dressed up for church

I love Easter, you get a new dress every year and you get to wear it for the first time to church that Sunday and the whole day is uplifting . This year we had a really hard time finding a cute little outfit for Garrett so he ended up with a polo shirt. Madison was easy and she loves being dressed up and having her picture taken. I wanted to get a really good picture outside of the kids but the weather is not cooperating it is cold and it was snowing so we settled for the stairs. Garrett was on one Sunday and was laughing it up in every picture he was that way in church but that is another post. I will post a few pictures of him!

Easter Bunny Visits!

Not a fan of Peeps but too cute!!!!!

Madison was so excited this year for the Easter Bunny, although I think she wasn't fully aware of what the Easter Bunny did and delivered but she was excited. The Easter Bunny left eggs all over the living room which was exciting to pick up, Madison and Garrett both got PJ'S(in desperate need of some for summer). Garrett got a tractor that you can put shapes in and Madison got the new Crayola Wonder Paint Brushes. This stuff is amazing and is so much fun the set came with 3 paintbrushes with color inside (they are big for little hands) and huge pieces of paper. We taped one on the wall and let her go at it. The paint only works on the special paper for those not familiar with crayola wonder products and the paint really works the same she went off on the wall numerous times and nothing. She is really into circles and suns and people so that is what she started drawing.

Coloring Eggs

This is the first time Madison has ever colored eggs. We could have done it last year but it seems that Easter sneaks up on us and is usually in the final weeks of school and we are busy so this year her cousin Bryce brought over some egg dye and they set out to have some fun coloring beautiful eggs.

Cake Take 2

Loves the look of a Cupcake; smooching cupcake; face still clean; First Bite

So we tried to get Garrett to eat some cake, this time with a cupcake. I was hoping that the smaller scale wouldn't be so overwhelming. He was very happy about getting the cupcake, and than he looked at it for awhile, the whole time grinning from ear to ear. He touch it and smooched it in his hands and on the high chair, etc. And than finally after about 15 minutes of playing with it he took a bite and than I think he realized what he was missing. He would take a bite and than grin and make a little laugh.

We were just beginning...

So I had unpacked the shorts and the short sleeve shirts, the flip flops, and the sandals put them all in their spots and have been enjoying the 70-80 degree weather for about 2 weeks when suddenly we wake up this morning and no lie.....we barely hit 34 degrees......with a 20-30 mph wind chill. Yesterday 80 today 34! Tonight theya re saying around 25 degrees, our poor flowers that have come up so beautifully. Something is wrong with this picture. Madison came down in shorts and a t-shirt and I had to send her back to her room to get something warmer on! The news says we should be cold the rest of the weekend......YUCK! I was being spoiled and loving
the warm weather.

UPDATE!!!!!!
We woke up this morning with SNOW!!!!!! That is right the white cold stuff! I can't believe it.

Garrett is One

SEEMS LIKE ONLY YESTERDAY!

He started out as a little guy struggling to be here and here he is venturing out on his own more and more everyday.

It is hard to believe that it has been a year since this little boy came into the world! He is so happy and full of life, he takes every moment and enjoys it to the fullest. He is already proving to be our little risk taker. He makes you smile when your having a bad day and has a contagious little laugh. He is our little miracle and we continue to be thankful for each and everyday we have with him. Life is precious and is meant to be lived out not just sitting around box on a shelf unopened and looking on from a distance. We hope and prayer that this year will be even better than the last!

In for a visit!

This weekend my parents got to come down for the party and for a quick visit. Joseph came and Heather's little girl, Caitlyn, joined them too. We loved having them around. We stayed at the hotel with them, went swimming, and just got a chance to be together. And how my mom got out of a picture with the kids.......hmmmmmm!

Early Birthday!

We had a early birthday party for Garrett on Saturday. The theme was centered around a car, I know you are thinking he is 1 but it was more for the parents and a really good excuse to eat cake and have ice cream. Plus he is obsessed with anything that is like a steering wheel if it is round he tries to drive it.

We had a lot of fun and I had fun making the cake. I made Garrett his own round cake but he didn't want anything to do with it. If you can click on the picture of him and his cake just look at the expression on his face. (We are going to make cupcakes for his real birthday tomorrow hopefully we will get a better result.) I finally made him at least touch the cake.

He received a lot of nice gifts and loved it all of the presents. Madison took over a few times but what are big sisters for. She really didn't understand and then when I asked her if she was going to let Garrett play with her toys on her birthday she replied, "No, I would be mad" Since that day it has gotten better. We had a blast and Madison can't wait til her birthday!

Glittered Everywhere!

Madison was happily sitting at the table doing crafts out of her craft bins and unknown to everyone Garrett had retrieved a little tube of glitter and was under the table shaking it out and playing with it. We had just assumed he was under the table playing which the two of them do quite often. He came out covered in glitter and there was glitter all over the floor and the table legs and he was shaking glitter all over and even eating it. The bathtub is up stairs the quickest thing to do was strip him down through the clothes right in the washer and than give him a bath in the kitchen sink! We haven't done that since he was about 3 weeks old! He really enjoyed it and the next thing we knew Madison was stripped down and ready for her turn! We learned our lesson about glitter and Garrett they don't mix!
