A chance...

Monday Garrett got to shoot one of Dave's guns. He loved it, along with the chance to shoot the gun he had rules to follow. Dave has always made sure that Garrett and Madison are aware of what a gun is and also what the rules are. He did great and even hit the target once.
Don't you just love the Mr. Kool-aid mustache man!

Hot stuff

I love it when little babies learn to sit up, not only do they get to see the world from a completely different perspective but they sit sooo straight. Mckenzie thinks she is hot stuff now that she is sitting up. She can't seem to get enough of herself right now, she literally cracks herself up!

Did I tell you?

Those parents of mine have been holding out on me. They let me try some carrots this week....finally. They have been trying to feed me that rice cereal, well I just spit it out and make a huge mess. Not with these carrots I tried to keep it all in my mouth, my mom even had to scrap the bowl with the spoon just to give me one more bit. That stuff is good, you should try it sometime.
I wonder what will be new next week....hmmmmm

A Rainbow of Colors

The baby food is done! It is BEAUTIFUL to look at, all the amazing colors that fresh fruits and veggies produce. There will be the occasional need for more baby food like bananas and avocados (yes, we are going to try it, read that they don't look appetizing after being frozen). More apples will be done I am sure. I have about 25 to 30 tablespoons of each variety. She is set, maybe even until she starts table food. (I just did the math on the low end that gives me 350 tablespoons of food!)
I may have spent 30 dollars at the most and that is being generous.
Amazingly it wasn't hard! Time consuming, but the majority of the food was either steamed or baked. The time consuming part was freezing in ice cube trays. The little individual ice cube wells hold 1 tablespoon of food.
The list includes:
Sweet Potatoes, Zucchini, Mango, Green Beans, Carrots, Squash, Peas, Carrots, Nectarines, Peaches, Apples, Pears, Plums and Pumpkin.

The best part is knowing that her baby food will only contain the real veggie or fruit nothing taken away or added to it. And I even tasted all of it as I went about pureeing and cooking.
And it will still be convenient, I have a few containers that when we need to go somewhere pop a frozen cube and it will thaw in no time.

I may just be going a little domestic on everyone. HA HA

For now though we are still working on Rice cereal, Mckenzie is having a hard time adjusting to not pushing everything out of her mouth....she will get it though.

1st Day Jitters

Yesterday was Madison's first day of school. The big 1st Grade! She was excited but I could tell she was nervous. When she gets nervous she is either completely quiet or she jabbers nonstop. We had the jabbering. She was beyond excited to pack her lunch....she couldn't wait, and to buy her milk....50 cents for a little thing of milk, since when did it get to be that much. Her teacher is Mrs. Winner, she is young but seems to know what she is doing. Garrett asked all day where Madison was and when she was coming home. I think this is going to be a good year for her. SHE IS GROWING UP WAY TO FAST. And her dad and I think she is the cutest little 1st Grader around.

And yes

I did find things to post about. Who would have thought I had pictures on the camera I had not uploaded yet.

Current Obsession

Garrett's current obsession, lining everything up in a row. Found the rescue heroes in line on the couch...to bad if you want to sit down. The cars were lined up on the floor, be careful it hurts when you step on the. Went in the kitchen last night to find all the spoons and forks lined up on the counter....silly boy! I will continue to fuel this obsession because quite frankly it slows him down for a few minutes.

Cereal.......Mckenzie

Mckenzie had her first taste of rice cereal this last week. She loved sitting in her highchair. She actually loved the whole idea of eating but could not get her tongue to cooperate and keep the food in. Her tongue would just push it out and down the front of her.

Since then we tried again last night, this was better she wanted the food and her tongue worked harder at keeping it in.
I am going to try and make all her baby food, we will see how that goes.

Water Fun!

We have not been out in the water hardly at all this summer, I think this was the 3rd time. I picked up this slip-n-slide at Target on clearance for 3.97. The kids had a blast.
I love the color of my grass and usually it is not this color in August.
We have had the most unusual summer....my only thought oh no what will winter bring?

Nothing.....

I can't seem to find anything to post about, I know I have things I do. Nothing is really consuming our lives, Dave is working a lot of hours, but he has a job.

Madison starts school in a week! 1st Grade I can hardly believe it. But then brings on the worry of helping her be the most successful she can be.

Garrett is all boy and test his limits daily. He can be quite the fighter lately.

Mckenzie will be 5 months old tomorrow, I feel like I blink and she grows up more.

The kids and I spend a lot of time together.....a lot! We have kinda got in a rut where we do the same things and eat the same spread of meals. I think I have played the game Sorry a ton of times this last week.

I have so much I want to accomplish and well....it isn't happening. My backyard needs an overhaul, bad!

This is the longest we have lived somewhere and boy it is hard to push aside the urge to move. My house needs a good going through and moving always let that happen.

But I am here, alive, and have 3 great kids and a hubby that I love very much.

Maybe I need a new hobby but who has time, not me.

Cordell Family Reunion

The last Saturday of July we went to the Cordell Family reunion. This is Mary(mother-n-law) side of the family. It rained a good portion of the day but the kids did get to go outside for a little bit to play on the equipment at the park. I didn't know hardly anyone and even Dave didn't know a good majority of the people, and if they knew him the last time they saw him he was a little kid. Oh well it was good for the kids to see their great grandparents.

How was I suppose to know

Garrett was quiet....yes you read that right. So I went to investigate. About half hour before this he wanted to watch Speed Racer so I put it on but well he never really sat down and watched the movie....then as I was saying it was quiet, too quiet. I peeked around the corner, I didn't want him to see me at first, that is when I saw it. He was watching Speed Racer and he had went and got his steering wheel, put on his speed racer shoes and his speed racer helmet and was driving along with Speed. I of course got the camera and was able to take 2 pictures before I was caught. He was even quoting the movie, is that a bad sign. Give me a break he loves that movie, the first few times I saw it I admit I thought it was the strangest movie. He can be a really cute kid and then he can really just unnerve a person, BUT WE LOVE HIM SPEED RACER AND ALL!

Mckenzie went in for a routine 4 month visit to the Pediatrician, received the routine immunizations and this is what we encountered only a few hours later. She reacted to something, they are not sure what. We have an appointment on August 5 with the allergist to see what if anything she is allergic too. I hope and pray it is just an isolated incident...hmmmm She was miserable. irritable, fussy. This was at the beginning of the reaction, it continued to get worse until she was covered. She even had hives between her toes and all over her head. A visit back to the pediatrician, a prescription, and 5 doses later she started to recover! Little interesting fact, she has to have an incident report written and turned into the government.....never knew that. We had 3 pediatricians in looking at her apparently reactions don't happen often and they all wanted a look.
I am just glad as of now she is rash free =)

4 Months

July 17, 2009 Mckenzie was 4 months old. I can't believe she is already four months old. Wow! She is rolling all over the place, she can get her knees under her and inch around the room. She drools all over and wants to eat everything. She loves to smile and talk and tell her little stories.
WE ARE IN LOVE!
Her Stats:
14 lbs 8 ounces
25.3 inches

She is happy and healthy

Aquatic Park

We went to the Troy Aquatic Park for a birthday party, it was a lot of fun. To bad it is not closer, like in my backyard.....now that would be fun!

4th of July

In no particular order...
We had a really good 4th of July. We attended a wedding, that was well lets just say interesting...never been to one like that.
We attended a pancake breakfast at church.
We took pictures of the kids....yeah they are cute kids for sure! Garrett will get a post of his own with the many faces pulled in an in prompt to photo shoot.

And when you have had enough of the picture taking you act like this...

We just hung out as a family and then watched the fireworks in town which made us miss the fireworks in Idaho. =(

The we let the kids play with sparklers, fun was had by all! (I know you are thinking sparklers that is it, but hey fireworks are expensive!)

Mckenzie lasted about 1 minute into the fireworks, the excitement was just too much!
